Introduction

Amber Fort, located in Amber 11 km from Jaipur, Rajasthan. It was the old fort of the Kachhwaha clan of Amber, which used to be the capital, till it was moved to Jaipur. The Amber Fort set in picturesque and rugged hills is a fascinating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. The fort is built with white marble and red sandstone and look even more attractive because of the Maota Lake in the foreground.

Best Time to Visit Amber Fort

October to February. During this period, the heat of the desert sun is less intense, the weather is cool and it is the best season for going sightseeing. The Elephant Festival and the Gangaur Festival are held in Jaipur at the tail end of March; another good reason to plan a trip as winter is on the wane and summer is yet to set in.

Also known as "The Hall of Public Audiences". It is a pavilion with double row of columns. Ganesh Pol, another feature of the Fort, directs the way to the inhabited apartments of the King. It is intricately painted double-storeyed Ganesh Pol gate.

Also known as "The Hall of Victory" has a stunning ceiling comprised of mirror work and an inlaid panel. The Fort has numerous other halls and pavilions with their own specific attraction. It is perched on the upper floor, is a superb amalgam of Mughal and Rajput style of architecture. It has exquisite carved Jali screens, and fine mirror and stucco work
